Recruitment Policy
It is Syntax policy to recruit only the best person for each vacancy, regardless of sex, race, religion or belief, age, sexual orientation or disability.
Do we welcome rec to rec CVs?
Yes we do but please ring us to agree terms first
How long will it take to receive feedback on my application?
Whether your CV is speculative or in response to a specific advertised vacancy, we endeavour to get back to you within two weeks of receipt.
How do you go about assessing the CV after initial application?
Firstly, we obviously look for the required skills, experience and/or education as set out in the job specification. Then after reading through the covering letters and assessing salary criteria, we would compile a shortlist for initial telephone interview or interview.
Please note: In too many cases, CVs are rejected due to spelling and/or grammatical errors. This is a pity as often candidates may be suitable in other ways but have not taken the care to complete their CV appropriately.
What qualities do you look for in applicants?
At Syntax Group, we offer a hard-working but enjoyable environment and in a nutshell, this is what we look for - people who work hard but also enjoy the role in which they work. We believe this is important in maintaining our close-knit team ethos whilst working towards and achieving our business goals.
Other qualities we look for are strong communication skills and excellent customer focus.
What are the opportunities for career progression?
Our policy is to openly encourage internal candidates to apply for promotion opportunities. We respect hard work and achievement and as the company continues to expand, there are opportunities for those who have excelled to be rewarded and continue up the career ladder. Three of our Directors started as trainees with Syntax and we want you to meet with them as part of the recruitment process.
Will Syntax take up employment references?
It is essential that we protect our business, employees and customers. Therefore, we thoroughly assess and check every potential employee wishing to join our organisation.
How to apply
Once you have reviewed our roles and company information, and decided to apply, the next step is to send in your CV with a hand written covering letter stating why you want to talk to us.
We will endeavour to respond to your application within two weeks of receipt, letting you know whether we would like to progress with your application.

What to expect at the interview
 |
The interview process at Syntax varies from role to role. We don’t see the need to make things complicated with a grilling schedule of five interviews. Generally, if we like what we see, we go for it!
There are, however, a few structures in place to ensure that not only are we making the right decision in employing you, but also that you are making the right decision in joining the SYNTAX Group.
All new employees will have successfully completed a minimum of two interviews, while some more specialised roles do involve some form of assessment or presentation. You will, however, be informed of any such assessment or presentation when you are being formally invited for interview.
For certain roles, we may require proof of your current/previous earnings - again this will be requested by Syntax in your invitation for interview. |
Offers of employment
 |
After the interviews, if we are happy with your application, we will contact you to discuss your feedback, the role and salary on offer. Provided you are happy with what you have seen, we would then make a verbal offer of employment and provided this is acceptable, would issue you with a conditional contract of employment and a reference form to complete.
On satisfactory receipt of your employment / character references, we would then make the offer of employment unconditional and will confirm your start date with the SYNTAX Group
This will involve providing two referees and in some cases proof of earnings (via recent pay slips, P45, P60 forms etc), education certificates, and relevant professional qualifications. |
What are the opportunities for new graduates?
As of 2007, Syntax will be introducing a Graduate Programme, details of which will be available at this time. For more information, please revisit our careers page in early 2007.
